Troubled Waters PBG Pack

Men took to warfare at sea about as quickly as they could. Early accounts of naval warfare go back thousands of years. From primitive canoes to guided missile cruisers, men have fought and died to open trade routes, conquer distant lands and extract revenue from passing ships. The expression "Freedom of the Seas" cuts both ways, implying the freedom to navigate them and also the freedom to exploit them. This package of nautical games allows players to explore all these facets.

This is the third of our Pocket Battle Game sets for sale as collecting them all can be a challenge for gamers.

Now we will make it easy-- you can just BUY the set!

Here is what you get!

IMUA! - The unification of the Hawai'ian Islands under one king was a difficult and sometimes dark process, with a war between the islands lasting 28+ years, including many sea battles, slaughter, the influences of Western military technology, and even a volcano eruption that smashed one of the armies (some of their footprints on solid lava are still visible today). Play Imua! to see just how much "trouble in paradise" there was.

Operation Cerberus - Some may say that the investment Nazi Germany made in surface ships was a gross misplacement of resources. But things like the hunt for the Bismarck certainly made for interesting stories, didn't they? One of the most interesting happened on February 11, 1942, when, complying with an order from Hitler that the navy did not much care for, Vice Admiral Otto Ciliax led some of Germany's most powerful naval units on a daring run…right up the English Channel. It sounds like madness, and in fact, was so unexpected, that they got away with it! The Germans called it Operation Cerberus. The British always referred to it as "The Channel Dash."

Operation Pedestal - By August 1942, the fate of Malta, the key to stopping all Axis supplies to Africa, lay in a small relief convoy hastily assembled at Gibraltar. Sailing east over an increasingly hostile Mediterranean Sea dominated by Axis air, surface, and submarine forces, the convoy barely made it. Try your hand at recreating (or stopping) this heroic voyage.

Mad Dash - Operation Kita - In February 1945, the Japanese executed Operation Kita ("North"). Two hybrid battleship-aircraft carriers and four escort ships, stuffed with critical war resources, dashed home to Japan from Singapore. The Allies detected the Japanese task force, but all their tries to attack it with submarines and aircraft were ineffectual and failed. These were among the last IJN warships to safely reach Japan before the war ended.

Mind the GUIK! - Imagine that in the spring of 1988 the Cold War gets hotter. With considerable domestic political unrest, the desperate Soviet government gambles, sending a pack of "Boomer" nuclear missile-armed subs through the "GIUK Gap" (the sea passages between Greenland, Iceland, and the UK). After stationing them off America's east coast, they begin negotiating favorable political and economic concessions. Can NATO stop the transit?
