Biafra!

Biafra! represents a challenging, educational game about the civil war/secession efforts in Nigeria in the late 1960s. “Nigeria” was a British-created “nation” drawn on a map without regard to religious, language, or ethnic differences. After Nigeria’s independence in 1960, these differences lead to coups and counter-coups, further complicated by the discovery of oil which led to strange alliances, with British and the Soviets helping one side, the French and Canadians the other.

Jason Juneau's first published design is a mini-game that captures some of the strife and confusion as ramshackle armies fight against each other, sporting used weapons and including mercenaries. The game uses random events and allows players some choices in how they allocate resources. Air and amphib forces too.

Biafra! comes with 88 large 5/8" mounted die-cut, counters and an integrated 17" x 22" full color map with rules and charts.

While there are no individual copies left, note that all copies of the ATO 2007 Annual have a copy of Biafra! inside them as well.
