(NEW) The Solitaire Way of War Pack
Three ziplock back issues for a great price!
In what is generally considered to be a group activity, solitaire war games are often the most heavily played. The reasons are clear, no need to find an opponent, or cut the game short if someone else wants the space, plus there's no one to see your cathartic reaction to winning or losing! Try out 3 of our best solo games with this exciting Way of War package.
Welcome to the Solitaire Way of War, with three totally different looks at "solo warfare" across the centuries, from brutal hand to hand combat to the lofty business of running an empire...for centuries!

Go Tell the Spartans
Few battles in history seem as “against the odds” as the tale of “300 Spartans” against a Persian host that some say neared a million soldiers.
If the actual numbers of Persians are more like 200,000, and if there were something like 7000 Greek warriors originally manning “the Hot Gates” of Thermopylae, it still represents an epic moment of history that has captured the imagination for centuries.
Against the Odds originally offered its first version of this battle back in 2003. Long out-of-print, we are excited to now offer what is more of an “advanced upgrade” than a simple reprint. Exciting new graphics and larger counters, plus thoroughly polished rules make this game a joy to discover.

Islands of the Damned
Inside Against the Odds Magazine issue #43 are two separate solitaire games in a package called Islands of the Damned.
The first game, Given Up for Dead covers Wake Island and the second, Utmost Savagery takes on the less-known invasion of Peleliu. Designer Steven Cunliffe tackles both battles with innovative systems that challenges players to mix boldness with good tactics. They must gain objectives but minimize casualties...as the historical commanders would have liked to do.
The Islands of the Damned comes with 176 large, full-color 5/8" die cut counters and two separate 17”x 22” full color mapsheets that contain displays and tables needed for each game.
You will be commanding the American forces in each game, challenged with doing far better than the historical outcomes. Can you save most of your troops from the Islands of the Damned?

ROME, INC.
ROME, INC. by designer Philip Jelley, is a solitaire game of the Roman Empire. The premise is that the player runs the operations of the Roman Empire like a business, but with a bit more blood, bread and circuses. After hostile takeovers of such competitors, like Carthage, Greece and Gaul, Rome has been incorporated into an empire, ready to monopolize the ancient world. But this requires the efforts of many, some who might be in it for themselves. As the player, you are not “the Emperor” - you select and replace emperors, and all the statesmen under him.
ROME, INC. begins with the “startup” of the Roman Empire under Augustus in 27 BCE to Diocletian in 286 CE. You’ll control the workings of the empire throughout, although you can pick four distinct “starting points” (27 BCE, 70 CE, 138 CE and 222 CE) and run scenarios of any length you like, depending on your corporate acumen and endurance. Each turn represented 5-10 years, with 10 turns in each of the four scenarios.
You decide where to allocate resources (capital spending), raise new forces (hiring), undertake prestige projects (public relations), pleasing the mob (shareholders), or even setting aside a reserve for a rainy decade or two. You’ll need to blend military expansion with careful administration, as well as intrigue, making the most of what you have each turn, just like any modern-day business.
ROME, INC. will give you a new perception of how war is a cost, business is a benefit, and empire is somewhere in between. It’s up to you to find a balance.
